Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange information between a website hosting server and a client. Since the information exchanged by the two sides is protected, a 3rd party won't be able to intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of handling a website hosting account. The commands that may be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, for example, the options are limited because you will not have root access to the website hosting server, so you may simply create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so on. They are all actions which are carried out within the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you will have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the hosting server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are a variety of applications for other OSs, that you can employ to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting

In case you have a cloud hosting account with our company and you'd like to manage your content remotely via SSH, you can easily obtain SSH access to the account using your Hepsia Control Panel. If your plan does not offer this feature as standard, you can add it with a couple of clicks through the Upgrades menu. In the SSH section of the CP, you'll see the host, the port number and the username which you should use when you connect to the account.
