If you’d like to transfer a domain name from one domain name registrar to another, you’ll need to pass through a few safety steps. One of them is getting a unique EPP code from the present domain registrar – provided that you are the registrant, since the code is emailed to the owner's mailbox and nobody else can get it. You’ll have to give this code to the new domain registrar, otherwise they will not be able to begin the domain name transfer procedure. The EPP authorization codes are case-sensitive and may include numbers or special symbols such as dots or commas, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy & paste the right code. As an additional protection measure, the transfer code for a domain may be changed on a regular basis. Certain domain name registrars refer to this code as a domain secret, a domain password or an Auth key as well.
